Song of the month

SEA of LOVE
Words & Music by George Khoury & Philip Baptiste
Recorded by Phil Phillips, 1959 (#2 on da charts!)

Do you remember
when we met?
That was the day
I knew you were my pet.
I want to tell you
how much I love you.

So come with me, my-y love,
To the sea,
the sea of love;
I want to tell you
how much I love you.

Bridge:
Come with me
To the sea of love (yeah, yeah)

(spoken-like a phone call from Cinncinnati):
Do you remember
when we met?
That was the day
I knew you were my pet.
I want to tell you
just how much I love you.
(instrumental)
Come with me, my love,
To the sea, the sea of love;
I want to tell you how much I love you.
(instrumental)
Coda:
I want to tell you just how much I love you.

This was a big hit when it came out. We stole the arrangement from Steve Weber's on the Holy Modal Rounders' record "Alleged in Their Own Time".
Buddy!

It was inspired by Sarita's Cockatiel making seagull-like noises (just like on the HMR version) during a session at her house. Of course, he doesn't come out to gigs. He's under 21 and would need a work permit.
